Frequently Asked Questions

Print-Ready File Guidelines

What file formats do you accept?

We can accept various file formats, however, we prefer .PDF files. PDFs act as a universal, high-resolution container that freezes fonts, images, and the layout in place, ensuring the final print matches the design. Unlike editable formats, PDFs prevent text shifting, font swapping, or image degradation, while supporting critical prepress elements like CMYK colors, bleeds / safety borders, and crop marks for professional, reliable output. This guarantees we print your file just as you created it.

What is a bleed or safety border? Why do I need one?

A safety border in the printing industry, also known as a “bleed”, is extra image or background color that extends beyond the final trim size of your printed piece. Are your prints coming back with unwanted white edges? Learn the importance of bleed in printing to avoid trimming errors, save on reprinting costs, and ensure a professional finish.

What is DPI?

If you’ve ever sent a file to a print shop and gotten back a blurry, fuzzy, or pixelated result — DPI is almost certainly why. When in doubt, 300 DPI at the actual print size is the safe standard for almost any project. It’s what we recommend for the vast majority of jobs at Pronto.

What is a Vector File?

If you’ve ever sent your logo to a print shop and been told it’s “too low resolution” or “not print ready,” there’s a good chance the problem was the file type — not the logo itself. The solution in almost every case is a vector file. When in doubt on which file type to send us, if you have a vector file of your logo, send us the Vector File.
